Commodities, Derivatives and Financial Instruments is a national competency that sits within our Technical Accounting Advisory Group (TAAG) of Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice and is growing rapidly. We work with our clients across Industrials, Energy, Consumer, and Technology Sectors on a variety of commodity markets related topics supporting and delivering audits and consulting with clients on complex technical accounting and derivatives valuation matters.

What you will do
Identify potential audit issues or unusual relationships in financial statements with detailed analytical trend analysis.
Consult with clients on a variety of commodity markets related topics such as audit of commodity transactions, derivatives technical accounting and valuation.
Develop and maintain relationships with our clients to provide services that the capital markets and the client can rely upon.
Building relationships with colleagues across multiple service lines to provide seamless integrated service.
Demonstrate professionalism while working in clients’ environments and providing exceptional service.
Operate effectively in a regulated environment, with a focus on protecting the capital markets and the investing public.
Job requirements and preferences
Required qualifications
Have or be working toward, an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related business discipline.
Meet the minimal educational requirements for CPA licensure in your work state prior to beginning full-time employment and have a plan for passing the CPA exam.
Work may be required in excess of standard hours. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
An understanding or interest in commodity markets, financial instruments, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent analytical and technical presentation skills to communicate complex ideas clearly to clients.
The ability to write technically in a heavily regulated environment.
A passion for client-focus and the professionalism for managing sensitive client relationships.
A highly collaborative approach to work.
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
A strong academic record, including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position.
