What you will do
When you join EY as a Federal Tax Advisory (FTA) STEM Intern, you’ll collaborate with a global team in documenting R&D activities for clients across various industries, including high-tech and pharmaceuticals. This position is ideal for recent graduates in engineering, technology, or science who are eager to engage with cutting-edge research and expand their technical and commercial acumen. You'll gain valuable exposure to a range of innovative projects and industry trends. The role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic, growing practice alongside a diverse group of skilled tax, science, and engineering professionals.
Your key responsibilities
Apply your technical expertise in fields like product development and pharmaceuticals to identify client innovation opportunities during meetings.
Create comprehensive technical narratives to capture clients' qualifying R&D activities, analyzing complex information such as design documents and lab reports.
Work collaboratively with an international team of professionals, including accountants, attorneys, and engineers, to deliver high-quality, critical analysis.
Oversee client projects to meet expectations and deadlines, and contribute to the enhancement of our specialized research credit technology platform.
Job requirements and preferences
Required qualifications
A predicted undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related IT field; supported by a strong academic record.
For non-IT-focused individuals – A strong understanding of engineering techniques, scientific methods, product development, manufacturing processes, design methodologies and prototyping.
For IT/Computer Science focused individuals – A strong understanding of development technologies, cloud computing, programming languages, software architectures, algorithms, and database design.
The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
Preferred qualifications
Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Creative thinking and technical writing abilities that enable you to effectively identify and describe the innovation within clients’ development efforts.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this job, in the US, is $36.06 - $40.87. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
